I've got the N97 (new) and I've had the E71 for a few months and whilst the N97 is noticeably faster I miss the E71's QWERTY and just the size was a lot nicer/comfortable to hold. I also found that despite them using the same battery my N97's battery lasts me only a day of heavy use, E71 at least 2 days of same use. I suspect this is because of the large and touch screen. Would love to hear others thoughts between the two phones. What would you say is better between the N97 & E71? The N82 has yet to be surpassed as far as image quality goes. Even the N86 won't stand a chance for low light shots. The N97 camera's colors do look great, impressed for version 1 firmware.
