Nokia N97 vs. iPhone 3g Head To Head! How Do They Match Up?

by Mike Macias on May 28, 2009

N97 vs. Iphone Side By SideCheck out the difference in specs between the Nokia N97 vs. Apple iPhone 3g. I know many people have been asking me to lay it out for them. I normally just tell them the N97 will have a 5mp camera, real gps, multitasking, copy/paste, huge removable battery, 32gb internal memory, microsdhc card slot, and the list goes on and on. Not to mention the Nokia N97 is powered by the Symbian, the most widely used operating system in the world.

Don’t forget the N97 has a real keyboard – something that many iPhone users wish they had.  With social networking beyond text messaging gets more popular – you know twittering from your phone and updating your facebook status – it becomes more and more crucial to be able to rapidly pound out the messages that you’re try to communicate with friends and family. On top of having a real keypad, the N97 will also have the virtual T9 touch input method for those short texts on the go when it’s really not necessary to reveal the full keyboard that the N97 features.

N97 vs. iPhone 3g Side By Side

Below is a Nokia N97 vs. Apple iPhone 3g comparison chart that I wanted to share with you guys.  It doesn’t inlcude all the features that the two operating systems offer, but most of the bases are covered.  You’ll notice that you can manipulate the tool to compare whatever devices you’d like by clicking the red “x” next to the iPhone and picking your phone from the drop down box.

Cool. Glad you like the sites! So are you thinking about picking up the Nokia N97?

  • http://www.google.com/profiles/douglas.ra Douglasra

Sorry for delay Mike! I'm really thinking about to buy a N97 when it arrives on Brazil, but I'll have to study this option. In my country we have a lot of tax from imported products. For exemple: on a E71 model, I paid R$1,500 “reais” (brazilian money), that converted in US Dollars is something like U$ 680 =/…

the N97 in my honest opinion is leagues better than an iPhone. But I'm worried about the pricing structure and in addition to that, the speculation about a rather not so nice processor.

Also with Maemo becoming a really strong contender within Nokia own profile… I'm wondering if taking will be worthwhile??

  • http://www.symbian-addict.com Mike Macias

Damn! In that case the N97 is going to be $$$

  • http://www.symbian-addict.com Mike Macias

hmmm, I didn't follow the whole Maemo becoming a phone platform thing. Not sure how that will affect the N97. Maybe someone else can better comment.

I'm thinking I should reconsider buying a N97… it's far too useful to throw away… though the N82 will live on as the undisputed “Imaging King”

  • http://www.symbian-addict.com Mike Macias

Of course! The N82 has yet to be surpassed as far as image quality goes. Even the N86 won't stand a chance for low light shots. The N97 camera's colors do look great, impressed for version 1 firmware.

when is this phone going to be released?
i live in canada and what kind of pricing would be expected when it comes out and will it come out in north america, i am only asking this because i was highly anticipating the release of the nokia 8800 which didn't get released in my country, which was very annoying

The n97 has been out in North America for awhile now.

What would you say is better between the N97 & E71? I've got the N97 (new) and I've had the E71 for a few months and whilst the N97 is noticeably faster I miss the E71's QWERTY and just the size was a lot nicer/comfortable to hold. I also found that despite them using the same battery my N97's battery lasts me only a day of heavy use, E71 at least 2 days of same use. I suspect this is because of the large and touch screen. Would love to hear others thoughts between the two phones.
